Childlike Faith

Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3. This saying may seem puzzling, but consider this: little children are eager to learn from kindly parents and teachers. They listen to bedtime stories with shining eyes and cry ‘Don’t stop!’  As we grow older and become cynical, distracted, or egotistical, it gets harder to hear and accept good news. Jesus is urging us to regain our childlike attitude and to trust him.

TV commercials use paid actors, so we may reasonably discount their endorsements and ignore the products advertised. On the other hand, if a good friend says, “Come with me, I want to show you something amazing,” we trust our friend’s motives and are receptive to what he recommends. It is wise to be cautious about many things, but it is also wise to trust true friends. Jesus is offering to be a true friend.

To learn more, please join us on Sunday mornings. We begin at 9:45 a.m. with hymn singing. Starting at 10:00 am., we use the liturgy in the ACNA 2019 Prayer Book.
