The Church season following Pentecost is called Ordinary Time. This does not imply that it is uninteresting. The term comes from the Latin and means that the Sundays are numbered. This season lies outside the festival seasons of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. It is a time for learning about the life of Jesus. Think about this: sometimes a movie channel will present a series of films featuring a particular actor or actress. Watching the films together can help deepen our appreciation for the craft and range of, say, Humphrey Bogart or Julia Roberts. Something similar can happen in Ordinary Time.
As we read through the Bible, focusing on the life of Jesus, we deepen our appreciation of God’s work in the lives of the Biblical authors, a work most evident in the life of God’s Son, Jesus. What is God up to? What is the big picture? Ordinary Time, which began last Sunday and will continue into November (which is when Advent begins), is a good time to learn. You are welcome to join us. We begin on Sundays at 9:45 for pre-service hymns. Our Prayer Book liturgy begins at 10:00 am.

Amid all the political upheavals and uncertainty in today’s world, the influence of Christ and His Church is still so evident. My son, Mark and his family have introduced me to the CHOSEN video drama series, and I think many church people
are having renewal and revival experiences in their lives. Thanks for sharing what’s going on at the St. Barnabas Anglican Church. God bless you all.
Several members at St. Barnabas have spoken very highly of the series. It is reaching people in unexpected ways! Yes, there is much turmoil in the world. We are grateful to meet just as the first Christians met to praise God and share His message! Blessings Dana Lou!
